Production Blog: Decision on Costumes and Tone
We weren't able to film last weekend as predicted. I was out of town for the whole weekend. Since I, one of the main actors couldn't be there, we had no way of beginning to film anything. In my previous blog I talked about how during the long car rides, I wanted to be able to think about the costumes and overall theme. I've made quite a few decisions on many things regarding my film project with my partner Alexa Delgado. Such as my choice for costumes. I've resolved on having the lead male actor, wear a white button-up for the good scenes and a black button-up for the bad scenes. We wanted the color scheme of the outfits to be light and dark to really emphasize the tone being portrayed in each scene. The white and black present somewhat of a good vs evil scheme everyone is familiar with. We want the girlfriend of the lead, to be wearing a white floral dress during the good scenes and a black floral dress during the bad scenes. We wanted to make sure the outfits' color scheme was the same for each scene. We wanted the girl to be wearing flowers on her dress in both scenes to really help with portraying her innocence in all this. The 90s theme was kind of just an idea for the style of the dress. We're not sure if we actually want to base the entire intro in the 90s because then we really have to think about the small things, like what they had or didn't have back then. If we do something we want to do 100% and we don't think we would be able to do that if we based the whole intro on the 90s. We want our outfits to look very formal, they are supposed to be on a dinner date. In each of the scenes they are on a date it's just one plays out differently than the other. We want it to look like they were trying to make an effort with the date in the bad scenes, but that they just couldn't keep up the facade anymore. And that their arguing lead to the boyfriend murdering her with a kitchen knife, then calling 911 only to realize he wants to cover it up instead.
