Creative Critical Reflection on Gatorade Commercial

1. My product uses conventions such as the usual sports being portrayed. The workout outfits and training equipment add conventions in Gatorade commercials. It represents the social group of athletes or people training physically for their goals. It also usually represents social issues such as when you fail and feel as though you will never achieve your dreams, but they usually assist this issue by demonstrating that everyone fails a bit before they reach their goals. That you need to keep working hard and never give up if you want it bad enough.

2. My product engages with the audience by essentially empowering them to work hard for their goals. It demonstrates how being passionate and never giving up can help you to achieve your dreams. The real media text my commercial would be distributed in would be like ESPN or a channel that is broadcasting some sport because this will target an audience that you already know is interested and being motivated by sports.

3. My production skills developed remarkably throughout the filming and editing process of this project. In the other projects, I wasn't as hands-on with the editing portion as much as I should have been. But throughout this project, I developed many skills and basic knowledge on my own that proved useful while editing. The filming was actually really entertaining and interesting. When I started filming I already knew exactly what I wanted to do and how to make it flow. Learning about different camera movements, angles, and editing techniques really helped better my understanding of producing a commercial.

4. I used many different types of technologies and hardware. More specifically, I used my iPhone and my friend's iPhone to film. To add I had technical difficulties on my end so I had to use three different types of computers to edit on. Softwares I used were Clipchamps to edit and google drive to store all my clips. The online internet platforms I used were Youtube and google to research conventions and ideas to base my commercial off of.
