Production Blog: Starting to Film

Image
We were eventually able to start filming on Sunday. We filmed later in the day when I had to work. As a result, we wanted to make sure we were shooting at the same time as the other clips. We filmed at night because we needed a darker style. However, we will have to change our plans because we may have to film during the day due to school and because both Zeke and I have jobs. We shot the opening scene, in which Zeke is seen slicing chicken instead of beef. Which, to be honest, was not at all appealing. However, you must make do with what you have. We're shooting on Tuesday, October 30th. We want to complete all of our shots. Then I can go back and make changes. After that, I'll see what I need. We're planning on doing three separate shoots, maybe four if necessary. We're making too many and there are still a few choppy clips after cutting. However, I'm more concerned about the blanks in the very short plot depicted. Alexa, my partner, is stepping back and allowing...

Production Blog: Factor in Project

Image
We weren't able to film last weekend because of the trip I went on. This weekend coming up on the 20th and 21st is when we're aiming to film. Zeke and I both have work on Saturday, so we'll try either on Friday or Sunday. It'll most likely be Sunday because I believe Zeke might have an activity already planned for Friday. Since we've now officially started Spring Break, I believe we'll have more time to spend with each other. This also means more time working on our project. Our project has a lot of factors when discussing the tone and theme. We want a visible difference in the atmosphere when each scene is presented. So our acting especially has to portray that. We don't want to go too heavy on the special effects and color correcting to give a different feel in each scene. Alexa brought up the idea to maybe even do the good scenes during the day and the bad ones a night. We had always intended the date night to be at night time. But on the other hand the n...

Production Blog: Decision on Costumes and Tone

Image
We weren't able to film last weekend as predicted. I was out of town for the whole weekend. Since I, one of the main actors couldn't be there, we had no way of beginning to film anything. In my previous blog I talked about how during the long car rides, I wanted to be able to think about the costumes and overall theme. I've made quite a few decisions on many things regarding my film project with my partner Alexa Delgado. Such as my choice for costumes. I've resolved on having the lead male actor, wear a white button-up for the good scenes and a black button-up for the bad scenes. We wanted the color scheme of the outfits to be light and dark to really emphasize the tone being portrayed in each scene. The white and black present somewhat of a good vs evil scheme everyone is familiar with. We want the girlfriend of the lead, to be wearing a white floral dress during the good scenes and a black floral dress during the bad scenes. We wanted to make sure the outfits' co...

Production Blog: Options in Film

Image
Today after work, I'm sleeping over at my family friend's house. Because then in the morning, we have to drive 10 hours up to Pensacola Florida for a wedding. I'll be gone the whole weekend, so we won't be able to film at all this weekend. Since I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands, I can think about my final project a lot more. I'm deciding between two ideas for the costumes in my film. For the girlfriend, I either want a 90s theme with a white floral dress for the good scenes and a black floral dress for the bad scenes. Or just a simple white for the good scenes and black or red for the bad scenes. For the boyfriend, I either want the 90s theme with a white button-up for the good scenes and a black button-up for the bad scenes. Or just a regular white polo for the good scenes and a black or red polo for the bad scenes. We know for sure that we want two different outfits for the two separate scenarios. We previously made sure that we all already have th...

Production Blog: Availability

Image
With this project, we're facing some obstacles. The person we've decided to do it with, Ezekiel Moralez, has a very busy schedule with work and other events. I also have a busy schedule. The last weekend which was the 7th and 8th, We couldn't start filming for any of those days because some of us had work and were busy. The weekend coming up, the 13th and 14th, I'm going to be out of town for a wedding. The days we're thinking of filming are going to be the 20th and 21st. If it ends up being too far away then we might even have to film on weekdays. We're still planning to do it at my house, but Zeke's house is still always an option in case something comes up. Most of our film is going to be based in the kitchen area. Both of our houses have an open kitchen which makes it easier to actually film. If more problems arise, because of the availability of our actors then we might need to have a lead change. It is a bit stressful that our schedules can never line...

Final Task: Filming and Editing

Image
We have thought a lot about this final project. We know almost exactly what we want to do, and how to execute it. We haven't started filming yet, but we plan to on Saturday, March 6th. Our friend was nice enough to spend time out of his day helping us with our project by being the lead. We'll all be going over to my house to film it. We obviously haven't started editing yet. However, when we start we'll immediately put in our shots to see what we need. That's how Alexa and I do things. Every time we do one of these projects, we don't like to just do everything in one day and just be done with it. Which sounds pleasant but then you settle for a shot that could have been better. We like to film all that we can on the first day, insert it into whatever editing software, and see where we can improve. Or even if we have to reshoot shots. Since we already all see each other on a regular basis, it's easy to film an extra scene quickly. Since we've already worke...

Final Task: StoryBoard

Image
Our storyboard is very complex. It's so detailed for various reasons. To make sure we know how we are going to film. Also as we plan it out we make little tweaks and changes. by planning shows us things we must change. Also things we must add or cut. Ours is so partially mainly because of the shots. There are so many cuts and transitions through. We had transitions that we call the "upside-down". Pretty much meaning the darker sides of reality. Meaning the crule horrors or life overall. Yet to express that we must show a transition between. Yet also add filters to create the desired mood. The "upside-down" is more gloomy, scary and, unknown. Yet we need to portray this not only with acting but overall these mood definers. We also see charters' reactions. We include where the music starts, stops, and cuts. Overall this storyboard is very detailed. Paola and I are trying to plan out all the components. Not only because it's easier on us. Yet it also somew...

Final Task: Location, Health, Schedule, and More

Image
Roles:   We believe that it would be best for one of us to play the girlfriend that gets murdered in the opening film. We feel as though no one knows how we want the emotion portrayed by that character than us. Since we really liked how our last film came out like, we decided to have Paola play the girlfriend who gets murdered. The main character is a man so, we need a boy to play as our lead. We have a few options in mind but before we make concrete plans we want to be sure that we want them as our lead. We need a specific person to fit this role. Some who look toxic and can pull off being a murder in our film. We have narrowed it down to, Ezekiel Moralez who played the toxic boyfriend in our music video. Victor Melendez did the voice-over in Paola's Gatorade commercial. But so far it seems we might have to choose Zeke for our film again. Alexa is going to shoot a lot of the scenes since Paola is in front of the camera. She'll also be the main editor because she has iMovie ...
