The CCR midterm

  1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? This song fits into the hip-hop, r&b, and rap genre. This particular artist, Kanye West, is extremely unique and loves to convey a message in his music. So, his music videos usually tell a story that is somewhat different from the mainstream aspect of the genres his music is inside of. The conventions in the mainstream side of this genre are usually, people being over-sexualized to bring in a specific audience. Other conventions on the mainstream side would be a very energetic and hyped rapping at the camera, unlike a story. Our product mostly challenges these conventions because the artist that made the song in our music video is very original and loves to create a message in his music. He's a very alternative artist in his genre, so challenging these conventions was somewhat inevitable. We really focused on portraying the story he created with the so...

Music Video Blog

Image
In this music video, we really wanted to capture the message of this song. Growing up in a society where we always feel although we need other's validation isn't healthy. Especially for young women and teens, we care so much about how people think of us, that we let others walk in our lives and take what they want. We can't be blinded by the good things people want us to see, then disregard the negatives.  We can't let people use, then manipulate us into thinking that what they did "wasn't that bad" or "normal". Alexa and I both understand that a lot of the scenes can be triggering, extreme, or inappropriate. However, we really believe that this is an appropriate way to shed light on such a real and raw situation that many people face today. This way we can really elevate the severity of the situation that this song is depicting. Even though some scenes may be seen as risky, we love that we can express our ideas on how to portray such a genuine m...

Filming and Editing Extra Information

Image
Throughout this process there was never a consistent timeline. We got off to a bad start with Alexa's house catching on fire and changing almost our entire plan on how we wanted this to go. We had to do a lot of things out of order to get this project done. When never stopped filming up until the last couple of days because there was always something we could add. We edited everything, when we were done filming for the day. We wanted to do it in sections and once we finished filming a section we'd finish editing that section completely. We made sure that every time we would film we would think about the amount of seconds we can't go over, so we could make sure everything fit. With that, it gave us our ideas of what we might want to add for the next scenes. The sole purpose of all our sleepovers, were to film whatever we needed left to film, then edit the in and be done with that section. We were both very detail oriented with every aspect of this project. We never did the b...

Editing for my Music Video Blog

Image
We never had a consistent time editing, so when editing we had to do it in pieces. We would film something and then upload to clip champs and see how it fits. Doing it this way made it easier to understand exactly what we needed. Since we couldn't film everything we wanted in one day, we would sit and talk out what needed to get done that day and what we could do another time. Alexa mostly took the lead on the editing aspect. While she was editing, I was still with her and we would talk the whole time about what we want. We really focused on making everything align well, in a way that would fit the theme of this song. If we had a clip that was too long, we would speed it up just a tad so that everything about the story in that clip could be incorporated. We even had to get clip champs premium because the music video would get pixelated when exporting it. One of the main things we also had to focus on was the amount of space and time we had to fit in another scene. We never wanted t...

Filming for my Music Video Blog

Since we had to end up filming at our friend's house who lives a bit far from me and Alexa we had to make sure we filmed as much as we could in this day. So when we got there we explained to him our idea and how we wanted to the scene to play it out. When filming we had to be cautious of we needed to wear in what scene and to stay organized when filming out of order. The storyboard helped a lot with this because it kept us focus which allowed us to film a lot of scenes. Since I was acting most of the time while filming Alexa would be the one videoing. She would show me the angle she was taking it from to make sure we liked it but overall she took over that aspect of it. Since I was the main actor I was mostly focusing on actually doing the part right. Since we're all really good friends it was hard not to laugh during scenes that were so intense and serious like our fighting scene. We had to take multiple takes of almost every scene to make sure we got one that fits our video p...

Storyboard

Image
Violent Crimes Storyboard Our storyboard for our music video took much more than 12 squares. I essentially wanted to capture a scene for each part. Each drop of the beat was a change. I wanted to give the video more of a clean look. With this change of clips, it makes me more in tune with the audio.  We wanted an overall deeper meaning within our video. We also wanted to keep the deals of the song.  Essentially our storyline was highlighting this girl.  Our actor Paola D’orazio  (As  Paola )    is pretty much our main character. And we see throughout the song the hardship she goes through being a  Teenage  girl  in 2020 .  We also want to immerse the viewer within the content. To essentially capture a  mood,  we made sure we  utilized a lot of colors. Meaning  Ascential  LED lights and colored lighting. We both essentially won today good story with A twist. Yet it's essentially taken from  s...

Planning for Music Video

Image
While starting this project we quickly decided on many things. Such as our song, Violent Crimes by Kanye West. Alexa Delgado choose this song and brought up the general idea of what she wanted it to be about. We talked it over and planned out what we wanted for each scene in depth. We then asked a friend named Ezekiel Morales who isn't apart of this class if he would like to be one of our main actors along with Paola D'orazio and he agreed. We wanted to really incorporate a sort of color scheme that really can connect to the scene beginning presented. So we thought that having a room with LED lights would really help to convey the moods needed for the music video. So we decided to have the location take place in Alexa's room because she has them on the boarder of her ceiling. We were going to begin filming on Saturday the 21st of November and try to complete as much as we can. We were then going to continue whatever we had left for the following day. If we had anything else...
